Bring the taste of a Balkan kitchen to your home. The Spicy Balkan Pickling Spice Mix is our handcrafted blend of aromatic herbs and spices designed to make delicious homemade pickled vegetables right in your own kitchen, just like Baba used to make them.
This flavorful Balkan pickling blend combines black peppercorns, mustard seeds, coriander, dill seeds, allspice, red pepper flakes, bay leaves and garlic to create the perfect balance of tangy, savory, aromatic and slightly spicy flavor.
From cucumbers and onions to peppers, carrots, cauliflower and more, this versatile pickling spice mix makes it easy to turn fresh vegetables into flavorful homemade pickles.
Simple 3-Step Pickling Solution
1. Boil Your Brine
Mix 1 part water with 1 part vinegar, add salt and bring to a boil. Reduce to just above a simmer. This creates the flavorful brine that brings your vegetables and spices together. [See the full pickling brine recipe here.]
2. Prepare Your Jar
Add your choice of vegetables to a clean jar. Add the Spicy Balkan Pickling Spice Mix, making sure the spices are distributed throughout the jar.
3. Add the Brine & Refrigerate
Pour the hot brine over the vegetables and spices, making sure everything is covered. Refrigerate for at least 24 hours. The longer they sit, the more the flavors develop.
